Spring Milton & Phyllis Berg Respite Care Grant

The Milton & Phyllis Berg Family Respite Care Grants are awarded in memory of the deceased parents of Barry E. Berg, who has served on AFA’s board of trustees since 2004. Both of Berg’s parents passed away in 2009: his mother, Phyllis, had Alzheimer’s disease, and his father, Milton, was a devoted caregiver.

These grants are awarded to AFA member organizations to help provide respite care scholarships to families in need. Studies have shown that respite care can help improve quality of life for both the individual living with Alzheimer’s and family caregivers by providing social engagement and cognitive stimulation for the individual, and affording a much-needed time-out for the caregiver.  Each grant award is $5,000.

Applications for the spring cycle of the Milton & Phyllis Berg Family Respite Care Grants must be received by Friday, April 24th, 2020. Access the application here.

Organizations applying for the Spring Milton & Phyllis Berg Respite Care Grant may contact AFA at 866-232-8484 if they have questions.
